The Classic statue of Iron Man was sculpted by Alex de Souza Moraes and released by Bowen Design in 2009, with an edition size of 1500 pieces. The statue is based on a famous cover art by John Romita Jr (number 126 of The invincible Iron Man, 1979) and shows the hero in a dynamic pose, with the legs bent, the trunk slighthly rotated and the clenched fists, ready to attack any opponent. The design of the figure is faithful to the hero's features of the Silver Age: the armor looks like a close-fitting costume and points out at best the slim, athletic physique of Tony Stark, with well defined abdominals, biceps and quadriceps. The long boots and gloves, as well as the suit at the pubic region and on neck, show the typical horizontal strips, while large circular plates embellish the hero's sides and two thick, circular borders define the borderlines between the arms and the bust. The red-gold colors of the armor are very bright and give an excellent chromatic impact to the whole figure. Also the face is very well done, with a rounded shape on the head and more squared lines on cheeks and at chin level. Two blue eyes are visible through the rectangular openings and the angular design of the eyebrows provide the face with an aggressive look. Note the elegant sculpt of the fists, the color shades which emphasize any muscle contour, the well designed edges between the gold and red patches of the mask and the perfectly centered, circular reactor on chest. The figure rests on a large and heavy circular base, adorned with equidistant and very small bolts. Compared to the tons of statues depicting Iron Man in all possible, modern and attractive variants of the armor, this piece, of course, has an evident retro style: not by chance, his availability on market is quite good and the quotations, in general, very affordable. Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, the piece represents one of the nicest 1:6 representations of the original version of the hero and, for this reason, it is worthy to be included in any Marvel collection.
